Carulli Jam
Curated by Rosco7 this time (thanks Rosco!), hopefully this will bring some of our newer guitarists out of the woodwork. Carulli is a keystone composer in the classical guitar world and if you don't know at least one of these songs, you'll be a much better for learning it. And now Rosco takes it away!
Ferdinando Carulli marks the start of what is now referred to as the Golden Age of the classical guitar repertoire. He was born Ferdinando Maria Meinrado Francesco Pascale Rosario Carulli in 1770 in Naples, which was then not yet part of Italy but instead the capital city of the Kingdom of Naples. His father was a distinguished government official, and Ferdinando was well educated, including, of course, an education in music. He studied cello until at age 20 he discovered the guitar and devoted his life to the study and advancement of the instrument. At the time, there were no professional guitar teachers in Naples, and hardly anywhere else for that matter, so Carulli developed his own style of playing.

Carulli was a skilled performer and his concerts Naples were so popular that he soon began touring Europe. Autodata keygen exe 3 240. Eventually he married a French woman and settled in Paris, the music capital of the world at that time, where he became a successful performer, teacher, and composer. He accomplished his goal of making the guitar a popular and very fashionable instrument among the Parisian upper class -- several of his students were members of the French nobility -- and attracted many other guitarists to the city.
The only problem with his success was that his fans wanted him to write music that they could play, and Carulli became frustrated that publishers refused to print what he considered his own best compositions because the pieces were too difficult for the average player. So Carulli began to publish his music himself, and soon began publishing the work of other guitarists as well. In all, he composed over 400 works for guitar, including solos, duets, chamber music, and concertos. In addition, he authored the first complete classical guitar method, which is still in use today.
For this month's jam I'd like to suggest three pieces from Carulli's Method Op 27. These pieces are all in Frederick Noad's 'The Classical Guitar', which lots of people have (or should have), and all three are pretty well known pieces.
Easy:
Carulli's Method Op. 27 - Waltz.
Alternate score: Page 1Page 2
Fun, easy, short and sweet and all in open position.
Intermediate:
Carulli's Method Op. 27 - Andante
This is a very common piece that every classical guitarist should know. Every few weeks someone will pop up on a guitar forum and say, 'I'm looking for music for a song called Andante. Does anyone have it?' And people will lecture the poor noob about classical music terminology and opus numbers and explain why 'Andante' is not a sufficient title, until someone pops up and says, 'Do you mean this?' This piece is always what they mean.
Advanced:
Carulli's Method Op. 27 - Rondo
A fun piece that will take you through nearly all the fretboard positions.
Extra Super Bonus Challenge: Windows 7 32bit pre activated.iso.
Find some string players and do Carulli's Concerto in A Major.
..that would be for the extra motivated. Thanks again to Rosco for curating this jam!
Marriage Jam Wrapup
Pretty lonely this month, maybe it was the download links being messed up, bad timing, the relative difficulty of the pieces this time around, the school year wrapping up? All of the above?
In any case, I double/tripled up and TheTortoise continues to come through.. slow and steady.
- ramses0 - Bridal Chorus
- ramses0 - Bridal Chorus (improved from TheTortoise's suggestions and some more barre/transition practice)
- ramses0 - Ode to Joy (simplified)
- thetortoise - Ave Maria
Everyone who didn't post a video this month is now on the hook for at least one of the Carulli pieces.. see if we can't get the participation averages back up. :-)
One-Year Anniversary
Maybe you've noticed a few changes around here? Maybe you like them? :-) Maybe they're not working right on your computer? If you see any issues, please message me with a screenshot or your concerns. I've tried the new theme / style on a few different browsers, but there's always the potential for something to get messed up so message me if you see any issues.
Happy one-year anniversary to /r/ClassicalGuitar, and our 11th monthly jam! From here on out we'll still likely be making some slight variations to the jams, of course with some additions as we work our way through the lineup again, this time with some more subscribers, and maybe with another year's playing experience under our belts (we'll see how well that's served us all, I guess ;-).
From this point on, I might post an occasional 'FUTURE JAM' discussion post, but I'd prefer that you (yes YOU, the person reading this now) come up with an idea and post it to the regular submission queue and see if we can't pick out some new jams / topics for our library to pull from.
Just remember: Shoot for Beginner => Intermediate => Advanced => Expert (optional), and focusing on composers whose music is available online (the more-out-of-copyright the better ;-) so we can post it in easy-to-use bundles and get as much participation as possible.
Student Moderator?
I've noticed an increase in posts from university / degree-seeking students and I'm interested in bringing on another moderator to help bring a focus on school / university issues.
As a hobbyist guitarist, I don't even know what all that might entail, but I see this community as being a great potential resource for students of the guitar and I would love for it to reach its higher potential.
Whether it's posting a 'call for recitals', being able to talk about classes, interviews / professor profiles, comparing music programs.. I really wouldn't even know where to begin but if you're currently a degree-seeking student of the guitar I would encourage you to take a few minutes and think this over.
If you're interested in what possibilities could come from having a soapbox to encourage global interaction between students of the guitar.. if you have the time, energy, and composure to help make this community a better place, please 'Message the Mods' and convince us you're the right person to help out.
This is simultaneously a special opportunity and not really that important at all. As moderators, me, Rosco, and Glen really hardly do anything that a regular user can't do. Over the course of a year, we've had to remember to rescue and 'approve' maybe 5-10 posts that were accidentally flagged as spam and we've been adding flair to people who post recordings for the first time.

These are really the only 'non-user' actions we've ever taken. Reddit (like Soylent Green) is made of people, just like you and me. And apart from being active and encouraging, we as moderators literally do nothing that anyone else couldn't do.
I've been busting my tail (with help from a few others in this community) to make sure we get a nice monthly music selection to motivate people to practice.. pick up their guitar they have in a case or on the wall, and not be so shy about posting videos of themselves playing whether their amateur or pro!
Whether that is done 'as a moderator' or 'as a redditor' doesn't really matter and what I'm really saying is be a redditor first and the rest will follow.
So.. think about it and message us if this is something you're interested in.
